In this article, I’ll share my thoughts on UNIQLO’s cashmere knit, which I wear regularly.
Cashmere is often seen as a “premium” material.
But how does it actually feel in daily life?
I’ll go through both the good and the bad as honestly as possible.

Background
A bit of context before the review.
I worked as a UNIQLO store staff member for about three and a half years.
During that time, I saw many different products.
• Items that sold well because of their quality
• Items that sold well, but weren’t that good
• Items that didn’t sell much, but were actually great
Through this experience, I learned how to tell if a product is truly good or not.
What I look for in a knit
My criteria are simple:
• Warm
• Lightweight
• Not too thick
• Comfortable on the skin
I wear knits almost every day in winter, so comfort is the most important.
Especially weight and thickness.
If it’s too heavy or bulky, I get tired wearing it.
What I actually own
I own both the crew neck and the turtleneck.
• Turtleneck → for colder days

• Crew neck → when I want a slightly more formal look with a shirt

This is not a “special occasion” item.
I wear it as everyday clothing.
When I work from home in winter, I wear it almost every day.
It’s one of my most-used pieces.
What I like
In short, it meets all my needs.
• Warm enough
• Very lightweight
• Thin enough to wear under a coat
• Soft on the skin
It has the classic “cashmere feel.”

What stands out the most is how light it is.
Even if I wear it all day, it doesn’t feel tiring.
Because it feels good on the skin, I actually want to keep wearing it.
This makes a big difference in daily use.
What I don’t like
If I had to mention one downside, it would be durability.
Because it is quite thin, it feels a bit delicate.
My first one (a gray sweater) got a hole at the elbow after about five years.
It was probably caused by friction from using a computer mouse.
The black one I use now is actually my second piece.
How I see it
This is a trade-off.
• Lightweight and comfortable
• or more durable
UNIQLO clearly focuses on comfort.
Also, considering the price, lasting about five years is actually very good.
If you think of it as something you use for years and then replace, it’s well balanced.
Final thoughts
UNIQLO’s cashmere knit is a good choice if you want:
• Comfortable daily wear
• Light but warm clothing
• Easy layering with coats
However, it may not be the best if you want something that lasts forever.
For me, it’s a reliable winter staple
that I keep coming back to every year.
