This article is a review of the habit-tracking app “Streaks.”
I downloaded it about a month ago, and it’s been such a solid app that I felt it deserved its own write-up.
Habit-tracking apps are hard to stick with
Before diving into the review, let’s talk about something fundamental.
Habit-tracking apps let you easily log your progress—and when used well, they can be powerful tools for changing your daily routine.
But ironically, sticking with a habit-tracking app itself can be quite difficult.
So why do we end up giving up on these apps?
The main reason: apps and habits often don’t play well together.
After completing a habit, we pick up our phone to mark it as done.
Then, almost unconsciously, we reply to a friend’s message or start checking social media.
It’s something most of us do without thinking.
Once you pick up your phone, it becomes much harder to stay in control.
The truth is, habit formation is already hard enough on its own.
Between work, chores, and everyday responsibilities, trying to add even more meaningful actions into the day is a big ask.
Lose focus for a second, and your new habit quickly starts to slip.
That’s why smartphones—which can so easily steal our attention—don’t make the best partners for habit-building apps.
What sets Streaks apart
And that’s exactly where Streaks comes in.
Streaks is a habit-tracking app—functionally, it’s quite similar to many others.
You set up a habit, check it off once it’s done, and review your progress through simple, clear data.
It’s also a paid app.

The list of habits I’ve registered
At first glance, it doesn’t seem too different from free options—and you might even wonder if it’s worth paying for.
So what makes it special?
You can log habits directly from your Apple Watch.

That means you don’t have to pick up your phone at all.
And that changes everything.
The Apple Watch has limited functionality by design.
Typing out messages is a hassle.
You can’t scroll through social media.
And that’s exactly why it works—it helps you stay focused on what matters.
In this way, Streaks overcomes one of the biggest flaws of habit-tracking apps: the distraction that comes from using your phone.
In summary
If you’re looking for a new habit-tracking app, I think Streaks is definitely worth considering.
It’s a paid app, yes—but because it allows you to stay focused without getting pulled into your phone, it can become a powerful ally in your habit-building journey.
Want more on habit formation?
If you’re interested in the broader topic of habit-building, I’ve written another article where I share practical tips for making habits stick.
It’s based on a training session I used to run back when I worked as an HR consultant.
Back then, people paid about 20,000 yen to attend—but now you can read it for free, right here on the blog. 😄
